About the Price Comparison Calculator
When two products come in different sizes and different prices, it is genuinely hard to tell which is the better value just by looking — this calculator computes the price per unit for both and tells you directly which option wins.
How It Works
The calculator divides each product's price by its quantity to get a price-per-unit figure for both, then compares the two directly and reports whichever option has the lower per-unit cost as the better deal.
Unit Price A = Price A / Quantity A; Unit Price B = Price B / Quantity B; Better Deal = whichever unit price is lower.
Example
Scenario: Product A: $7.98 for 32 units. Product B: $4.49 for 16 units.
Result: Product A costs about $0.249 per unit, Product B costs about $0.281 per unit — Product A is the better deal.
Assumptions & Limitations
- Assumes both products use the same unit of measurement (both in ounces, or both in count, for example) so the comparison is apples-to-apples.
- Assumes quality and usefulness per unit are otherwise equivalent between the two products.
- Does not account for quality differences, taste preference, or whether you'll actually use the full larger quantity before it expires or becomes less useful.
